What to do, cardio or weights??? As you can see in the picture, weights top cardio in every department. Why?? Well, lifting weights adds lean tissue, which means more muscle, which means you burn more calories per day as your body needs it. More muscle means I will look bulky though… Actually, no it doesn’t. To get muscly for women is very difficult as testosterone plays a huge part in muscle growth, and women have a lot less than men. It makes you feel much better about your appearance, you feel more confident, you can eat more!!!, and your a getting strong so later in life, you can still do the things you want to as you have built a strong foundation. Don’t be afraid of weights, you have sooo many ways of progressing and many variations that will keep your body improving every time. Don’t get more wrong though, cardio plays it’s part and you need to do it, but make sure you have a system in place. Not sure how much to serve yourself when planning your days nutrition!? Here is a great post from @minorityfitness of portion sizes. Some people will look at this and be surprised to see chocolate, cheese, butter, full fat yogurt as it make you fat! Well, unfortunately they would be wrong as you can have any of these in moderation. Don’t read too much into foods that make you fat because the main reason we get fat is because we eat too much. Calories being too low: Have your calories too low can lead to big problems with losing weight. Doesn’t sound right though because if I am in a deficit, I should lose weight right?? Not quite! The body is a very well oiled machine that can detect if your energy intake is too low. It will then adjust its metabolism to save you basically. Starvation diets are not good long or short term so don’t so then. How to lose fat First you much find out how many calories you need per day. Then eat slightly less than what you need. I normally go for 500 calories less to start with Eating enough protein is something we don’t do. Lots of people will eat sandwiches for lunch or something that is high in carbs, so plan you lunches and prepare your protein. Protein is a very filling food and uses a lot of energy to break it down compared you other macronutrients.🍗 Strength training is important for weight loss as it burns calories during the session and also post session as well! 🏋🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♀️ High intensity isn’t in this but this is a huge factor to helping you achieve this. High intensity (depending on how long you do it for) burn of a shed load of calories during and after exercise, so make sure you have this in.⛹️‍♂️ Finally, you can still lose weight and enjoy some of your ‘fun’ foods as well.
